Pornography Is A School

words and music by Paige Powell

Verse 1: His eyes are so far away
Now, tell me, where did he go?
His body is here with me
But seems like he got no soul!

Prechorus: Where does he go and spend his time?
Says, "Leave me alone" when he's online

Chorus: Pornography is a school
It teaches I'm not enough
He lives for a laptop girl
And all of that made-up stuff

Verse 2: I live like I'm all alone
My heart and my body aches
He ain't lovin' me the same
Compares me to all those fakes

Prechorus: She never cares or loves or cries
The classroom is full and the teacher lies

Chorus 2: Pornography is a school
It teaches that man of mine
It tells him no one gets hurt
It whispers, "It ain't no crime"

Bridge: Why won't he come to bed?
I'm a woman who's real
That poison did its job
No wonder he can't feel!

Verse 3: I'd smash his laptop and phone
But I'm afraid he would leave
He'd say, "I need those for work"
How can I make him believe?

Prechorus: Goes in that room to twist his mind
I wanna scream when he's online!

Chorus: Pornography is a school
It teaches him fantasy
It ties him up to a screen
Addiction is his for free
Pornography is a school
It teaches him fantasy
The damage is from a screen
Addiction is needle-free
Addiction is needle-free

Hard-hitting blues song from a woman who can’t compete with her man’s addiction to pornography. Lyrics include “I wanna scream when he’s online!”

This blues song was inspired by a sermon from Andy Stanley called “Gentleman’s Club” (Dec. 20, 2017) starting with the New Testament's revolutionary teaching that women are to be respected and honored, not treated as a commodity to be used. Thirty minutes into the sermon, Andy mentions the “pastime” of viewing nude women and declares that pornography is a school that teaches 1) a real body isn’t enough, 2) one body isn’t enough, and 3) your wife’s body isn’t good enough. He explains that we’re now discovering that it’s like a drug that deadens (and destroys) a man’s brain’s desire for a real woman. The song’s closing line is “addiction is needle-free.” Sadly, pornography is an addiction for many men. If you’d like to hear the sermon, it’s located HERE on YouTube.
