From the September 17, 2021 Blog: The Story Behind the Song, "Those Who Need":

Sitting at my dining room table, I looked at the crowded bookshelf in my living room. It was full of books and video tapes (remember VHS?) and the bottom shelf was full of notebooks and photo albums. Many of the books were, and still are, unread. I looked at them and said to myself,
"Will I read any of these?"

Next, I looked at my DVDs, with hours of viewing and I know I won't watch them. I did get rid of (donate to the Salvation Army) the ones that

I can get online. Next, I looked at the stacks of magazines that I "might need". I've heard that hoarders keep newspapers and magazines because throwing them away would be throwing away an idea or a group of ideas, and I understand that.

So, dear reader, if you are downsizing and donating (or tossing out) your stuff, this is the song for you! You can listen to "Those Who Need" on Spotify, Apple Music (song #8) or by asking Alexa. You may have seen someone with a shopping cart that contains all of their belongings. There are also people in other parts of the world who have next to nothing, and yet they are happy. They might be delighted with just one book or just one box of our "stuff".

Steve Wolfe plays a wonderful saxophone solo (I think it is a tenor sax) in the middle part of the song, plus some nice "touches" at the beginning and the end. Sadly, I've lost touch with Steve, who moved away to Jacksonville, Florida. I'm forever grateful for his contribution to this and many of my other songs I've recorded (see "Songs with Saxophone" or "Cappuccino Music")

Meanwhile, I still need to organize my cluttered desk, so if you have a cluttered desk (or clutter anywhere), know that you're not alone! Yesterday, I was in my "happy place" the recording studio, specifically with Producer/Sound Engineer Marco Delmar, working on my song "Far From Lonely". Marco recommended Elise Kress to add penny whistle to the song, and it added SO much beauty! This weekend, I'm looking forward to working on my Music Video "The Clock" — I don't want to disappoint my fans who sent me photos and videos of their clocks to be featured in the video!
